Few Air Max colorways are quite as iconic as Dave Ortiz’s Air Max 90 “Bacon” from 2004, and the perfect pancetta palette was very nearly revived on this new Air Max 95 design. Although the pale ivorys, soft pinks, and rich reds that are essential to any pork slab-styled sneaker are present, this 95 instead opts to go its own route with new orange and yellow tones while still providing a cheeky nod — intentionally or otherwise — to the above-mentioned classic. From a material standpoint, soft nubuck upper panels and ivory mesh combine with a white midsole and vibrant Air Max cushioning units to ensure a premium-yet-sporty feel is offered. In a fun piece of sneaker history, there also was an Air Max 95/360 “Bacon” hybrid that released in 2006, the closest we’ve come yet to a true replica.
